Just so you know...

When I don't blog it is usually not because I am too busy or too tired or just too crazy. I usually don't blog when my heart is so full that I just can't even begin to express what is going on in there. (I am getting all teary eyed just typing this!)
So one day in the near future when I have had a little time to just sit and be still before the Lord, I will share about what He is teaching me!:)

I hope you are all having a wonderful summer! We are doing great and just finished an awesome week of VBS!

Blessings!!

And We're Off...

Nathan has delcared this to be "Freedom Week"!

We are sitting in the airport in San Antonio about to head to Orlando for the Southern Baptist Convention and yes, a little visit to a special little mouse will be invovled! Don't tell our boys though!:)

We are so very thankful that my parents were so willing to keep ALL 3 boys for the next week!

I am so looking forward to spending some QT with my hubby and listening to some great preaching! I have also never been to Disney World so I am beyond excited!!

Thanks again Mom and Dad!

Summer...

For most of us Summer is the time to kick back and relax. A time to give ourselves a little more slack and to just chill out. While I love that idea and have spent many summers that way, this summer will be different.

It will be different because I have some of the most wonderful girl friends who have decided that this summer we are going to get serious. Serious about seeking our God and making the most of this precious time we have with our kiddos this summer.

Thanks to my friend Kim we have made it a point to e-mail each other daily about what we are learning in our times with the Lord. There is a song I love that says "The more I seek You the more I find You". I pray that I will find more and more of God this summer as I intentionally seek Him.

But don't be mistaken...summer will still be tons fun...here are my sweet boys ringing in Summer 2010!

Popsicles!

Six...

I can't believe I am really typing this...my sweet little first born turned 6 last week! Time seems to just keep speeding up and I know that it will only get worse as the boys get older and life gets even more busy. I am so glad we were able to savor some sweet moment with our new six year old boy this week...

We celebrated on his actual birthday with some brownies

The Sonic cake...thanks again Julie!!

Celebrating with Nonnie and Papaw

This year instead of having a party Kaden decided he wanted to go to Six Flags!! We went with the Massingill's and had a BLAST! We couldn't believe the boys loved roller coasters so much...they road the Shockwave and the Judge Roy Scream twice! It was a great day to spend some quality time with our oldest and I hope that we never forget those smiles and the way his face lit up on all the rides!

Kaden right before riding his first roller coaster...he was pretty scared!!

Verse 11...

So I realize I only memorized 1 verse for the month of May! I am still on track to have all 24 memorized by December but I must admit this verse was more difficult than some of the others...

"Didn't you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don't you see that you can't live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body."
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

I am not sure if it is because this verse is in the Message and it is more conversational or if I struggled because this verse is so hard to put into practice! I do want to honor God with my body both by what I put into it and how I take of it...however, that is so much easier said than done!

So while I continue to work on putting 1 Cor.6:19-20 into practice this is verse number 11...

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Colossians 3:1-2

While I used to always look at this verse and think about not listening to "bad" music or watching "bad" movies or tv shows, today this verse means so much more.

I think that the writer is saying not to worry about achieving great success in the world's eyes. Quit striving to make your life comfortable with more and more luxuries. Focus on Christ and the things He is focused on...like serving the needy, redeeming the lost, caring for the widow and the orphan, and so much more. For so much of my life I have been focused on earthly things...how to make enough money, how to make sure my house looks cute, how to make more time for me, and while none of this is bad it does make me wonder how many years I have wasted just focusing on me instead of sharing the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.

I pray that I will remember this verse at every turn in my life... that when my flesh's desire to be comfortable wages war with God's desire to use me for His glory my mind and my heart will be focused on the "things above" and that I will not be drawn in by earthly things.
